VIVA is offering a virtual, synchronous Open Education Network's Train-the-trainer: Intro to Open Pedagogy Workshop on May 13th from 10am-12:30pm. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be considered a VIVA OEN Campus Leader in Open Pedagogy. 

Participants will 

• Learn how to effectively facilitate an open pedagogy workshop for faculty and faculty partners.
• Gain critical action steps and proven strategies to engage faculty in open pedagogy.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be considered certified as a VIVA OEN Campus Leader in Open Pedagogy and will be able to: 

• Deliver the Introduction to Open Pedagogy Workshop. This workshop introduces faculty to the concept of open pedagogy, demonstrating how its use makes learning more inclusive, showing examples of open pedagogy in practice, and pointing to a series of action steps and resources for those intending to practice open pedagogy.
• Facilitate an Open Pedagogy Learning Circle is a multi-session collaborative, resource-rich learning environment in which faculty learn together about open pedagogy, what it does well and how it can be incorporated into a classroom, and create a renewable assignment or digital learning object.

Workshop Contents

Two facilitators from the OEN community will lead the group through: 

• Introduction
• Establishing an Open Foundation 
• Intro to Open Pedagogy Workshop (Facilitators will walk through the Open Pedagogy Workshop, which you can deliver to faculty)
• Facilitating & Experiencing an Open Pedagogy Learning Circle (Facilitators will walk through the Open Pedagogy Learning Circles, which you can facilitate for faculty) 
• Examples, the Curriculum, Getting Started & Lessons Learned

There will be small group discussions, plenty of time for questions, and a 30-minute break. 

Eligibility

Anyone at a VIVA member institution is eligible to participate in the training. We recommend it to those who are interested in facilitating either the Introduction to Open Pedagogy Workshop or a Open Pedagogy Learning Circle.
