2025 Open and Affordable Community Forum In-Person / Online

Please join us for the 2025 VIVA Open and Affordable Community Forum on November 14, 2025. It will be a hybrid event with in-person attendance at Reynolds Community College, Parham Road Campus, Conference Center Gallery (WDCC, Room 100). This year's theme is "Cultivating Resilience in Education" and will feature keynote speaker Sarah Clinton-McCausland, librarian at the University of Maryland, College Park. The full schedule can be found at: https://vivalib.org/va/open/oacc-forum-2025.

There is no registration fee to attend this event. However, you must register 1 week ahead of the event to attend.

 

Forum Virtual Attendees:

The forum will be available via Zoom for those unable to attend in person. The Zoom link will be provided in your confirmation. 

 

Forum In-Person Attendees:

The event will be held in the Workforce Development & Conference Center, Conference Center Gallery (Room 100) at Reynolds Community College, Parham Road Campus. The registration desk will open at 9:00 a.m. with a full breakfast. Free parking is available in front of the building.

You can find a map of the Reynolds Parham Road Campus here. We recommend parking in lot G or I, as those are closest to the meeting room.

Travel

Please note that VIVA will reimburse staff from VIVA member libraries from both public and private institutions for their travel within GMU guidelines. One day trips qualify for mileage, parking, and tolls only. Those who reside more than a 2.5 hour drive from the event location can apply for pre-approval for multi-day travel, including lodging reimbursements. Pre-approval from VIVA needs to be secured at least 48 hours before the event. 

VIVA has secured a hotel block for this event at the SpringHill Suites Richmond North/Glen Allen (9701 Brook Road Glen Allen, Virginia, USA, 23059): VIVA OAC Forum Hotel Block (expired 11/1, although you may book outside of the block after that).You may take advantage of the block whether or not VIVA is reimbursing for lodging. You may also secure different lodging as long as you select the government rate when booking. Please note that this rate must be requested when booking (it’s an option under special rates), but many local hotels honor this rate.
